Can you be, THE BEST Version of yourself?

I have this canvas, behind my desk that you can see if I am on a ZOOM with you from my home office. I was never really a KOBE BRYANT fan until I spent time learning about his drive and mental approach to basketball.

MAMBA MENTALITY-- a constant quest to be the best version of one's self.

Are a few people just born successful while everyone else has little chance to succeed in life? That's a common question that many people have when it comes to figuring out success. The truth is successful people do a lot of things differently from others - which often contributes in large part to their success. Even better, almost anyone can adopt these same habits to help them succeed in achieving their dreams.

Leading with Significance

There's an expression that "successful people do every day what everyone else does occasionally." In other words, the most accomplished people in life adopt habits that set themselves up for success. Unfortunately, a lot of "average" people aren't willing to adopt those habits because they often require life-changing sacrifices--sacrifices that are hard to make. Many people have found the book, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" very helpful when it comes to inspiring change in their life. You can find lots of self-help books and online resources that will teach you the habits of the world's most successful people.

HUNGER and DRIVE

Nothing in life is free. You aren't entitled to anything - despite what you might have heard in the media or from pop culture icons. The most successful self-made people understand that they must work hard to acquire and retain their success. For example, take a successful small business owner. How did they create a lucrative business for themselves? They will most likely give you a two-word answer: hard work! In fact there's a common saying that "self-employed professionals are the only people who work 80 hours so they don't have to work 40." In other words, good entrepreneurs understand that creating a successful business (or anything in life) requires lots of hard work - because there are no shortcuts.

DETERMINED at a different level.

No one becomes successful by giving up when the going gets tough. Unfortunately, many people have an aversion to hard work and sacrifice. When a big obstacle gets in their way, they decide that it's just easier to quit rather than working through the problem. However, instead of giving up, you must roll up your sleeves and get to work on solving those problems that stand in your way if you want to achieve success.

Color outside the lines

What is possible?

The word "can't" isn't usually a part of the vocabulary of most highly successful people. Instead, they use like "how" - as in, "How can we make this happen?" The bigger problem with the word "can't" is that it's tied to negative thinking. Successful people are generally optimistic about their life - even when they encounter challenging situations. Therefore, if you tend to be a pessimist, you must retrain your mind to embrace positive thinking. Furthermore, optimistic people aren't just more successful, they are also happier in life. What would success be without happiness?

Learn and Thrive when you fail

As mentioned, if you want to achieve great success in life, then you will have to learn to take calculated risks. That means you can't be afraid of failure. In fact, very few successful people have never experienced failure. For example, Steve Jobs lost his job at Atari before he founded Apple. When people are highly-driven to succeed, they don't let mistakes or setbacks stop them. Instead, their failures become one of their greatest motivators to press on.

Reaching the next level is not a free meal.

Last but definitely not least, successful people need an endless amount of ambition to inspire and motivate them. Remember, anything worthwhile in life usually requires a lot of hard work - and often lots of hard sacrifices. One way to stay motivated and on track to achieve your goals and make your vision a reality is to have a lot of ambition. You need to be able to imagine the life that you desire for yourself. Imagine what it will feel like to live your "ideal" life. Even if your dreams seem a bit ambitious, that can actually be a good motivator - as long as your dreams are still realistic.

In short, if you want to achieve great success in life, then you need to adopt the kind of habits that highly successful people have. Remember, you don't want to be "average" - so you can't just live like an "average" person. You must also accept that the only way to attain success is to earn it. The world doesn't owe you anything. You will need to be prepared to work very hard, as well as make some hard sacrifices in the short-term to get what you really want in the long-term. You can't be afraid of risk-taking and failure. Those two things go hand-in-hand with achieving success. Get rid of any pessimistic feelings and replace them with a positive mindset. When you do experience failures or setbacks, use them as motivation to learn from your mistakes. You can also keep yourself motivated by setting ambitions, but realistic goals.
